Posted to Germany

So you are posted to Germany (Brochure 2.45MB PDF) Arriving at a new unit is always daunting and so for your benefit, we have put this website together to help support, single and married servicemen/women and their dependants to settle into Germany.  We regard a good quality of life as essential for the well being and professionalism of servicemen/women, particularly bearing in mind the difficult conditions they often face on operational tours.

We are here to help but please remember that there are other organisation you’re your Welfare Office, Hive etc to assist you with any housing concerns, obtaining identity cards, ration cards and advice on other matters, such as car registration, keeping pets in your home, disposing of household rubbish and they can also put you in touch with professional Welfare Support Agencies if required, the list is endless.

Much of the style of life in Germany is similar to the United Kingdom, but there are differences; some obvious, some not so. The German people are well known for their orderly life styles and for their tolerance of the rights of others. Everyday rules of living are taken for granted in the United Kingdom and sometimes ignored, but in Germany they are regarded as important and they are strictly observed. For example there are specific times when Germans are not permitted to use their lawn mowers or hang up washing. As guests in their country they expect us to observe their rules just as they do.

Germany is ideally placed for visits to the rest of Europe and, being a large country, contains many sights worth seeing. This is particularly so since the re-unification in 1989/90. BFG is a busy but interesting posting with a great many Service facilities covering a wide variety of sports and activities to suit all tastes and ages. Enjoy your tour in Germany but remember we are guests and as such we must respect the German way of life and culture.
